]]>A good first step is to give it a normal wash like any other piece of laundry. DO NOT DRY.
It is important to identify the type of stain you are dealing with. Different types of stains require different treatments. For example, oil-based stains require a different treatment than water-based stains. Once you know the type of stain you are dealing with, you can then move on to the removal process.
For water-based stain, such as food, juice, or coffee, then the best approach is to first blot the stain with a paper towel or cloth to remove as much of the liquid as possible. Then, you can use a mixture of a detergent and warm water to pre-treat the stain. Soak the fabric in the solution for a few minutes and then gently scrub the stain with a soft-bristled brush.
For oil-based stains, such as grease, lipstick, or wax, you will need to pretreat the stain with a degreasing cleaner. Dawn dish soap works really well for this. Then, apply the cleaner directly to the stain and let it sit for a few minutes. Then, gently rub the stain with a soft-bristled brush and rinse with cold water. Repeat this step a few times. For stubborn stains you may need to use a stain remover. If the stain remover is safe to use on the fabric, apply it directly to the stain and let it sit for a few minutes before scrubbing the stain with a soft-bristled brush.
As a last cleaning step, normally wash your gear. Review if any of the above steps should be re-done. Feel free to reach out with questions too!
Air Dry.
Next, you’ll need to pre-treat the fabric with a DWR-specific cleaner and conditioner. This will help to ensure that the DWR coating is applied evenly and adheres properly to the fabric. We suggest ReviveX products for this. Any product designed for this will work.
Once the fabric is prepped and clean, it’s time to apply the DWR coating. You can either spray the coating directly onto the fabric or use a sponge to apply it. Once soaked, heat set this in a dryer. This helps the coating to bond with the fabric and creates a more durable water-resistant barrier. Revivex is again a great product to use for this.
Finally, the last step is to test the DWR coating. If the water beads off the fabric, then the coating has been applied successfully. If not, then you may need to repeat the application process.
All Clean and waterproof!

]]>The traditional helmet is usually made from a heavy material such as polycarbonate or ABS plastic. This material is strong and effective for absorbing the impact of a fall or collision, but it also weighs several pounds. The weight of the helmet can contribute to neck, back, and spinal injuries when a person is thrown forward or backward in a collision.
Lighter helmets are made from a combination of lightweight materials such as carbon fiber, Kevlar, and foam. This combination of materials provides the same amount of protection as a traditional helmet while reducing the overall weight by as much as 60 percent. In addition, the materials used to construct the helmet are often more flexible, which allows them to conform to the shape of the head more easily. This helps to reduce the risk of a neck injury, as the helmet will absorb some of the energy of the impact and reduce the amount of force that is transferred to the neck.
These helmets also allow for increased maneuverability and comfort. With less weight on the head, athletes and snowmobile riders can move their heads more freely and with greater confidence. This can help them to avoid potential collisions and accidents.
Helmets, like the JUDGED Gavel, reduce neck injuries by reducing the amount of weight on the neck. Lighter helmets are typically made of lightweight materials such as carbon fiber, which help to reduce the strain on the neck muscles. Additionally, lighter helmets have straps that are designed to evenly distribute the weight of the helmet, so the helmet is not pulling down on one side of the neck more than the other. This helps to reduce the risk of neck strain or injury.
Our helmets reduce spinal injuries by reducing the total amount of force that is transmitted to the head, neck, and spine when an impact occurs. By reducing the overall weight of the helmet, it reduces the amount of force that is transferred to the body from the impact of the helmet against the ground. This helps to reduce the risk of spinal cord injuries. Additionally, lighter helmets are often designed with more cushioning and shock-absorbing materials to help further reduce the force of impact on the head, neck, and spine.
In addition, lighter helmets are often cooler and more breathable than traditional helmets. This helps to reduce the risk of heat-related injuries and keeps athletes and riders more comfortable while they are wearing the helmet.
Overall, lighter helmets provide a safer and more comfortable experience for athletes, snowmobile riders, and anyone else who wears a helmet for protection. The lighter weight of the material helps to reduce the risk of neck, back, and spinal injuries, while the increased maneuverability and breathability make it more comfortable to wear. This technology is a welcome development for anyone who is looking for improved protection and comfort while engaging in activities that require the use of a helmet.
]]>The DOT standard is a set of safety standards that are established by the US Department of Transportation. Helmets that meet DOT standards are required to undergo a series of impact tests and penetration tests to ensure that they provide adequate protection in the event of a crash. DOT helmets are also required to meet certain requirements for retention system strength, field of vision, and labeling.
The ECE standard, on the other hand, is a set of safety standards that are established by the Economic Commission for Europe. Helmets that meet ECE standards are required to undergo a similar series of tests to DOT helmets, including impact tests and retention system tests. The ECE (Economic Commission for Europe) standard is a set of safety requirements for motorcycle helmets that are recognized in over 50 countries worldwide, including the European Union. The ECE standard is considered to be more stringent and comprehensive than the DOT (Department of Transportation) standard. However, the tests used to evaluate helmets for ECE certification are slightly different from those used for DOT certification.
While both DOT and ECE helmets are designed to provide adequate protection in the event of a crash, there are some differences in the way that the tests are conducted and the criteria that are used to evaluate helmet safety. For example, the DOT test uses a single impact at a specific speed and location, while the ECE test uses multiple impacts at different speeds and locations.
There are also differences in the way that helmets are labeled and certified under each standard. DOT helmets are required to display a specific label that indicates that they meet DOT standards, while ECE helmets are required to display a label that indicates the specific country that has certified the helmet.
So, why is the DOT standard important and better than ECE? Here are a few reasons:
Here are some reasons why the ECE standard is considered better:
While ECE helmets are also designed to provide a high level of protection in the event of a crash, the DOT standard is generally considered to be more rigorous and more closely aligned with the needs of US riders. If you're shopping for a Snowmobile helmet, it's important to consider both DOT and ECE safety standards. Buy the JUDGED Gavel 2.0.

The "net" works by using a membrane that has microscopic pores that are smaller than a water droplet but larger than a water vapor molecule. This means that while water droplets cannot pass through the membrane, water vapor can. The ePTFE material is extremely thin and has a high surface area. The high surface area allows for more pores to be packed into the membrane, creating a more effective barrier to liquid water.
But that's not all. In order to make our fabric system work even better, the fabric is also treated with a special coating called a durable water repellent (DWR). This coating helps water droplets roll off the surface of the fabric, so they don't even get a chance to touch the membrane. This means that the membrane can stay breathable and continue to let air and water vapor move through it. The DWR coating helps to prevent the fabric from becoming saturated with water, which could reduce the breathability of the membrane.
So, when you're wearing our system, you can stay dry and comfortable even in wet and damp conditions. Overall, our gear is a highly effective material for keeping people dry and comfortable in a variety of outdoor activities, from snowmobile riding and camping to skiing and snowboarding. It works by allowing moisture to escape while keeping rain, snow, and other forms of liquid water out.
One of the primary benefits of goat leather gloves for snowmobiling is their durability. Unlike synthetic materials, goat leather is tough and resistant to wear and tear. This makes it an ideal choice for gloves that will be exposed to the elements and subjected to repeated use. The durability of goat leather also means that your gloves will last longer, even with frequent use, so you can get the most value for your investment.
In addition to being durable, goat leather is also flexible, which is important for ensuring maximum comfort and dexterity while riding. Snowmobile gloves made from goat leather are able to flex and move with your hands, allowing you to operate your snowmobile with ease and precision. This is especially important when you need to make sudden movements or adjust your grip, as gloves that are too stiff can impede your ability to control your snowmobile effectively.
Another advantage of goat leather for snowmobile gloves is its natural water-resistant properties. Snowmobile rides often involve exposure to wet conditions, and keeping your hands dry is crucial for maintaining warmth and comfort. The natural oils in goat leather repel moisture, helping to keep your hands dry even in wet conditions. This can be especially important in sub-zero temperatures, where even a small amount of moisture can lead to rapid heat loss and discomfort.
In addition to its water-resistant properties, goat leather is also a great insulator. The tight fibers of goat leather trap heat, helping to keep your hands warm even in extremely cold conditions. This makes goat leather gloves an ideal choice for snowmobiling, as they provide excellent protection against the cold and wind.
Finally, the texture of goat leather provides a good grip, which is important when riding a snowmobile. The natural texture of the leather helps to provide traction, even when your gloves are wet, so you can maintain a secure grip on the handlebars and other controls.
Goat leather gloves are an excellent choice for snowmobiling due to their durability, flexibility, water-resistant properties, insulation, and grip. Whether you're a seasoned snowmobile rider or just starting out, a good pair of goat leather gloves can help you stay warm and comfortable while out on the trails. So if you're looking for a reliable and high-quality pair of gloves for your next snowmobile adventure, consider investing in a pair made from goat leather. View our options here!

Cotton is not ideal for winter clothing because it has poor insulating properties and retains moisture, making it uncomfortable and dangerous to wear in cold weather conditions. When cotton gets wet, whether from sweat or precipitation, it loses its insulating properties, leaving the wearer feeling cold and damp. This can lead to hypothermia, a dangerous condition in which the body temperature drops to an abnormally low level. In cold weather, it is important to wear materials that can wick moisture away from the skin, rather than retaining it. Cotton also does not provide much insulation compared to synthetic or natural fibers like wool or fleece. In cold weather, it is important to have good insulation to keep the body warm and to prevent heat loss. Synthetic and natural fibers provide better insulation and are more suitable for cold weather clothing.
Snowmobiling is a popular winter activity that requires proper preparation and clothing. Layering and wearing the right clothing are essential for staying warm and comfortable during the ride. Proper layering allows for easy regulation of body temperature, which is crucial for snowmobilers who are exposed to harsh winter weather conditions. By following the layering system and wearing the right clothing, snowmobilers can ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
In conclusion, layering and proper clothing are crucial for snowmobiling. The layering system should consist of a base layer, insulation layer, and outer layer. The base layer should be made of moisture-wicking material, the insulation layer should provide warmth, and the outer layer should be waterproof and windproof. Snowmobile suits are also designed specifically for this activity and provide the necessary protection and insulation needed for snowmobiling. By following the layering system and wearing the right clothing, snowmobilers can ensure a safe and enjoyable experience in the great outdoors.
Hypothermia is a serious condition that can occur when the body loses heat faster than it can produce it. This can happen when the body is exposed to cold temperatures, and it can be life-threatening if not treated promptly. The symptoms of hypothermia include shivering, slurred speech, confusion, drowsiness, and in severe cases, unconsciousness.
When riding a snowmobile, it is important to dress properly to protect yourself from the cold. This includes wearing a warm, waterproof jacket and pants, gloves, a hat, and insulated boots. Layering is also important, as it allows you to add or remove layers as needed to maintain a comfortable temperature. Additionally, it is important to wear a helmet to protect your head from injury.
Consider the multiple options JUDGED offers to protect you! View our outerwear section.
It is also important to stay well-hydrated and to take frequent breaks to rest and warm up. Snowmobiling can be physically demanding, and it is easy to become dehydrated and fatigued, which can increase the risk of hypothermia. Drinking water and eating snacks high in carbohydrates can help keep your body warm.
It's also important to be aware of the weather conditions before heading out on a snowmobile ride. Wind chill can make the temperature feel much colder, so be sure to check the forecast and plan your ride accordingly. If the temperature is too cold, or if there is a high wind chill, it may be best to stay indoors.
In addition, it is important to know the area you're riding in. Being familiar with the terrain, knowing your way around, and having a map or GPS with you can help you navigate safely and avoid getting lost in the wilderness. In case of an emergency, it's also a good idea to carry a personal locator beacon or satellite phone.
It's also a good idea to carry some basic first aid items, such as a small medical kit, a flashlight, and extra batteries. In case of an emergency, these items can be a lifesaver.
If you or someone you are with begins to exhibit symptoms of hypothermia, it is important to stop and get out of the cold immediately. Seek warm shelter, remove wet clothing, and warm the person slowly. If hypothermia is severe, seek medical attention immediately.
In summary, snowmobiling can be a fun and exhilarating experience, but it is important to take the necessary precautions to protect yourself from the cold and the risk of hypothermia. Dress properly, stay hydrated, take frequent breaks, be aware of the weather conditions, and familiarize yourself with the area you're riding in. With the right preparation and care, you can enjoy a safe and enjoyable snowmobiling experience. Remember, safety should always come first when it comes to outdoor activities.
]]>Several JUDGED products utilize something our own waterproof membrane. We have found what we think is the perfect waterproof and breathable membrane.
Our system is a membrane and at least two other layers preventing water from coming in while it allows moisture out. Its structure is microporous. It is a premium fabric having a polyurethane coating. It does not allow water in due to the layers of material having tiny holes, while it allows moisture. When you pour water in our gloves, it will not drip. Steam rises when you pour boiling water. The material ensures that you remain warm and dry.
Part of the features included in the version we utilize is microscopic aluminum flakes for zeolite crystallization. There are almost over 10 billion pores per every square inch. Its production process is a trade secret due to the obtaining of the correct process and controlling the size of each hole being a balancing act.
The role of the first layer is the prevention of the passage of any water in. The pores in 20 times smaller than a drop of water. It allows moisture out and prevents water from entering due to the minute opening.
The structure of the second layer is a honeycomb. Its role is allowing moisture in such that it is expelled through the first layer. With it, your body will not be sweaty due to it absorbing the moisture while it allows the moisture to leave slowly. You can’t feel this because it is at a microscopic and macroscopic levels.

The search for an appropriate pair of snowmobile pants and jackets can be uneasy. Choosing wrongly will make one to experience a wet and disappointing outing. The right choice will provide you a comfortable gear having the capacity to keep your body dry and stay useful throughout the journey.
The production of Durable Water Repellent (DWR) is by the addition of coating to fabrics such that they become resistant to water. There are various levels of being ‘impervious to water’ based on the definition of ‘waterproof’ in the Oxford English Dictionary. You might have bought any item previously labeled as waterproof but did not have the said property. The following include the definitions.
For the best decision, remember that being breathable is a good feature for the best snowmobile gear. You will feel wet when sweat breaks during a ride even with outer fabrics being able to repel water, when it is not breathable. This is where DWR fabric JUDGED gear come in handy.
The combination of DWR with our Laminate makes provision for the best, keeping your gear dry within and without for your comfort without respect to the conditions.
DWR is different from our laminate. DWR is not permanent because it is a coating. You can re-waterproof your gear and it is not difficult to do. It is cheaper and enhances sustainability instead of buying new material. There is also the extension of the longevity of the material.
Washing your gear is the first step to its revitalization. Different dirt clog up the pore of the fabric. The presence of the dirt does not allow moisture to exit and you become soaked with your own sweat. Make use of certain cleaning agent to waterproof as well as washing with cold water. We offer a complete kit to do all the steps: https://www.judgedgear.com/collections/outerwear/products/gear-cleaner-wash-in-waterproofer-and-dwr-spray
There are various solutions for re-waterproofing based on the garment type. Wash the jacket on a normal cycle using ReviveX Wash-In Repellent or other brands for shell jackets and pants. It is also possible to add some waterproofing to seams, soft shells, fleece, and more.
Following the revitalization of your old gear, deep dry it in a dryer using a low setting. Ensure to remove any excess wax and leave it for a day to dry.

Most riders utilize them for protection from wind and debris. Ski goggles do not usually have them, but your snowmobile goggles will. The riders do admit that they just use them without thinking about it. Despite the non-usage of nose guards by individuals who participate in other winter sports, dirt MX and snowmobile riders generally always have them. The first time many individuals started riding with ATV was with open face helmets and ATV goggles. ATV goggles have grown into niche market and its focus has always been on the dirt. The growth of snowmobile industry has emerged and companies such as JUDGED are coming up with snowmobile specific products. We have some goggles with nose guards while some do not. We also have some nose guards that can be replaced. You can determine the one that suits you.
If you have medical issues like skin situations, you need a nose guard. This is often to prevent sunburn or wind burn. This is uncommon but flexible for some individuals.
The cause of fogging is by nose guards that hold heat. You can go for a nose guard and see the difference. It is very likely that your nose will not get cold due to sufficient heat you have to fog your goggles. Our Sanction goggles actually have vents to have the best of both worlds.
You might need some extra protection just like some snow cross racers when the track becomes dirt and things begin to fly.
If you boondock or are highly active on your snowmobile, we highly suggest our vented nose piece. You will have the protection and hot air can escape.
When it comes to riding in very cold weather at higher speeds, you really want a nose guard. You might have frostbite on your exposed nose; hence, the additional protection will be handy.
]]>Layering System And What Each Layer Is And Material
We should consider the gear to use when going for snowmobiling, instead of the things to wear underneath. Most moments are spent to think about our coats and the gloves instead of the layering to stay underneath. People are fearful about becoming chilled and cold whereas as time passes, nothing of such happens because of the layering beneath. There is both protection from the cold and comfort ability with the layering.
Layering
The term ‘layering’ offers the description of the phenomena of putting on clothes over each other, layer after layer, to obtain maximum thermal insulation and protection from cold. It is possible to have different material for each layer based on the purpose of usage. The reduction of radiations in hot weather is possible with layering. The flexibility of layering ensures that you are able to move easily.
The use of layering is common in sportswear and clothes for outdoor activities. The most common material is synthetic and is quite affordable.
Layers
The classification of the three major levels in the layering includes:
Inner layer or base layer
This layer makes provision for moisture. This is due to the inner layer being adjacent to the skin thereby allowing perspiration and sweating. This layer ensures that your body does not become heated in the summer. This is because sweating helps to release heat from the body thereby promoting coolness in summer.
It helps with the prevention of hypothermia in winter. It ensures that the temperature of your body does not go below normal. The danger in hypothermia is that it brings about a fall in blood pressure, and ends in stroke or hemorrhage.
Merino wool, synthetic fabrics, or even silk are the materials used. They ensure the passage of your sweat to the upper layer, for the evaporation of your sweat.
A thin tight non-cotton shirt and pant is our suggestion.
The characteristics of the materials use (polyester, polystyrene, and microfiber) include antibacterial, insect repellent, and odor resistant. They are less expensive while silk is expensive and likewise difficult to handle. There is no provision for required thermal resistance; therefore, cannot keep you warm.
When it comes to cotton, it does not suit any layer because it absorbs sweat. It ends up being cold and heavy. If used for insulation in cold weather, the insulation is lost and cotton becomes a threat. You should forget cotton!
Middle layer
This is frequently termed as the insulation layer. It makes provision for insulation, ensuring that there is necessary heat and no loss of the cooling effect and is retained for a longer period. It is not as tight as the base layer. You can make the layer somewhat loose such that it covers the whole body and make provision for insulation between the inner and the outer layer. It insulates by trapping air in between the layers.
You can use a thin fleece. JUDGED sells a very affordable option including not extra pockets, straps or anything to keep it light. See our fleece here: judgedgear.com/collections/outerwear/products/sport-fleece
This layer is best with fleece. This is because is insulates adequately and offers protection against heat and cold. It functions even when wet. It does not have much weight and is compressible. It is a synthetic polymer.
The commonest material used as insulation layer is a cotton hoodie. Don't do it.
Shell layer or outer layer
This layer is made up of the outermost clothes that we wear. It is necessary for it to have sufficient strength for resistance to the cold and the strong winds. It is necessary for these clothes to have adequate mechanical strength. We have multiple shell options that can be purchased. https://www.judgedgear.com/collections/outerwear

This is a serious medical issue that leads to the death of many people every year. You need to consider the reduction of heat loss and the addition of fuel and fluids, and heat to the body of the victim. There is need to understand it and prepare to cater for the conditions that promote it. Further information about it is available on the internet.
The cooling of the whole body is hypothermia as the body’s inner core is cold such that the body is unable to obtain the heat required to remain warm. Many people every year due to hypothermia and without doubts, the deaths are because the victim and the individuals at the scene do not know about this deadly condition and the way to identify the symptoms.
Hypothermia Sуmрtоmѕ:
The control heat loss in our body, there is heat regulation through shivering, quivering and goose bumps. However, no one should ignore prolonged shivering as it shows that your body is working overtime for the maintenance of temperature.
Recognizing Hуроthеrmіа Symptoms:
The knowledge of its symptoms can be helpful to you or others at risk of hypothermia. Self-recognition of the symptoms is not easy due to the symptoms impeding rational thought. When this medical condition sets in and progresses, the following symptoms that can come up. The conditions will become worse with wet and windy conditions. It more likely to die from hypothermia if there is impairment of your judgment by drugs or alcohol.
Shіvеrіng:
This begins small and increases rapidly to become further visible. When it reaches the advanced stage, the symptom includes vomiting and convulsions.
You need warmer dress when it is cold. Absence of warm cloth calls for the building of a fire. Shelter is crucial as there is need to get out of the rain.
How tо Prеvеnt Hуроthеrmіа
It is not easy to know the specific point because each situation differs. You should not hold until you become too cold. Ensure to go out prepared and seek help immediately you find yourself in a condition that is likely to become serious.

]]>One of the unpleasant situations is getting to know that your goggles have fogging issues while riding. It is a feeling known by everyone when the snow is around and wind prepares to start. You get excited and begin to prepare to reach some miles on the new layer of fresh and soft powder and suddenly, you begin to experience fogging on your goggles and you are unable to see anything.
You have them removed, allowing them to rest on your helmet. You end up becoming half-blind when you meet with a harsh wind and snow flying into your face.
You should continue to read this if the description matches your experience as we are going to discuss the prevention of foggy goggle syndrome.
Keep Going
Yes, you need to stay put when you are being unstuck. However, you should make attempt to restrain yourself from sliding the goggles anyway in a situation of stoppage on the mountain. You have faster fogging when your body heat and breath enters the goggles when you have the goggles pressing up against your chin bar. It is better to place them under hood goggle bag or in your goggle case.
The cold air outside that mixes with the hot air within your goggles is the source of fog. Hence, you need to ensure that they stay in a dry place when you remove them.
Get rid of the Snow
Ensure that you check whether you have snow stuck in your goggles when the opportunity comes. This is possible during a break and you can do it to distract yourself. Use a stone to kill two birds!
Remove Snow from Vents
This can occur only on the real deep days. Ensure to check for vents in your goggles because of the possibility of snow creeping in. The presence of snow in the goggles will to lead to vent blockage and prevention of airflow through them. This is not possible with JUDGED goggles as there is an extra venting. However, you still need to check.
Do not clean the inside of your goggles with a wet lens bag
Many people do this without even thinking. However, you will create more problems or end up damaging your goggles in the attempt to clean the inside of your goggles with even a mildly wet lens bag. You are not to touch the inside of your lens.
Dry out the goggles
Have the goggles removed, shake them as if you are mixing a cocktail to observe whether airflow is able to fix, when there is a bad fogging. Likewise, you can put them inside a dry goggle bag to observe whether there is improvement following some minutes.
If the fogging still remain after doing both of these steps, there may be a need to swap to another pair to allow them dry for long period in an under hood bag.
Refrain from touching the inside
Constantly touching your goggles is likely to bring about fogging. Yes, it is true that you need to touch them at some point but remembering this rule will take you far. Consider the individuals who have experienced goggle fog syndrome. It is likely that they caused it by touching it many times. They tend to exhibit more anxiety and anger as they constantly fidget them to make the fogging worse.
Anti-Fog Gel
Older goggles may need an anti-fog gel re-applied. JUDGED sells this and will work on all brands goggles. https://www.judgedgear.com/collections/helmets-goggles/products/anti-fog-gel
Ride with two goggles
Don’t have just one goggle. Get a spare. Have one in your face and the other in a goggle bag. This will help you to have a fresh and hopefully one that is not foggy. You can just take along a lens with our new Sanction Goggles.
]]>For snowmobiling, it is possible that goggles are a very crucial item of all the necessary items. Here is guide on the features to consider when it is time to shop for goggles.
Consider the goggles of the helmet you already own to understand the way it will work appropriately. The building of many ski goggles is such that they are not to be in a helmet. You should test fit the goggles when you know you will mismatch. Look out for gaps or exposed foam by going around where the goggle meets the helmet.
Most people complain about fogging the most. Venting is the major defense in fogging. To know that it is not possible, try to drill a dime-sized hole in each side of a pair of goggles and then try to make them to fog. Too bad it snows, rains and snow dust is always around. Ensure to check the way the goggle you want to buy vents. It is renowned that a small little vents blocked by foam does not cut it.
Prevention of fog likewise requires foam with the ability to produce seal such that your head heat is kept out. Although it must not be too thick, the thickness of the foam must be adequate. This is because being too thick will push the goggle out and will not comfortable but annoying.
There should silicone on the strap. There can be a great problem with wet helmets and straps without silicone. Fogging is likewise the result of the straps snapping to the helmet.
Ensure that your nose guard is not too tight if you prefer it. Big and small nose guards bring quick fogging. You can check our article on nose guards for further details. Our Sanction goggles actually have a vented nose guard.
If you come across someone having mismatched and improperly designed goggles complaining about fog, tell them about JUDGED Gear. An article is coming on the tips to prevent fogging; watch out.

I think the typical question most people ask is about the lens color to use. The question is such that several websites suggest certain color; however, one will also tend to ask why it is so. Here is the explanation on each lens, including the advantages.
We highly suggest using goggles that allow you to switch lenses easy. The JUDGED Sanction Goggles are the easiest in industry. Before we continue, there are certain terms to understand.
The quantity of light given the opportunity to pass through is known as Light Transmittance Value (LTV, VT, or Tvis). More light is allowed to pass through with more LTV. The LTV of the windows in houses would be high while that of tinted windows and snowmobile headlight would be quite low.
The term for the description of a lens that does not allow the eye to see blue hues is Blue Blocking. Its function is to block the snow’s blues making things feel hazy. The provision of the best contrast and the processing of the snow conditions to aid your eyes are possible with blue blocking goggles.
It’s time to discuss colors.
Polarized/Mirrored Lens – These are the best for sunny days and it is our top seller. They cut the glare due to polarity and the mirrored finish possesses a slight grey hue. Due to the glare back during sunny days, it is possible for your riding partner to have his darkest shades on and still unable to compete. An observation on a sunny day is that it is possible to see more details with these likewise. Their look is great and they will look somewhat a little too dark. Hence, you can obtain another lens for night riding.
Photorochomatic - Are auto tinting lenses. They are almost clear with no light like at night and become darkly tinted in bright sun.
Orange – We prefer this and suggest it as it is an all around lens color. We prefer this to ride all day. When it comes to color wheel, this is the direct opposite of blue. Likewise, it blocks blue excellently. It has a high LTV and is the best all around blue blocker.
Yellow – Many prefer this and would say is the same as orange. It is most suitable for the darkest overcast days. Out of the JUDGED stocks, it possesses the highest LTV. When it comes to blue blocking, this is great and the best, especially on heavy overcast days.
Rose – This is not quite a popular choice. However, it I worth having. It has the same LTV value as orange, but having a red shade at night can aid pupil dilation. This effect is obtainable in many flashlights due to red shade. For sunny days, this is also a great and the best blue blocker.
Green – When there is dirt, this is a popular choice; for snow, some individuals prefer it too. The reason for night vision goggles being green is that your eye can actually see the most shades of green than any other color. It is possible to have a washout effect with this on sunny days as it does not block blue.
Blue – According to science, wearing this does not make sense. However, many people still prefer it. Blue is the easiest color on the eyes.
Is it clear now? Go for a mirrored polarized when it comes to sunny days and an orange pair for others. For something a little brighter, consider yellow instead. The rose is good for you if you ride at night the most.
]]>If it’s a slide of snow that is able to begin from a point while it gathers speed and volume on its way, then it is an Avalanche. There is snow, air, and perhaps ice, trees, rocks, as well as other debris or objects coming its way in its mass. They seem terrific and are quite hazardous. The highest speed observed in some avalanches is about 175 miles per hour.
There is spontaneous emergence of avalanche when there is a storm that brings about numerous snowfalls. This leads to an increased load; however, it is possible to have it when there are changes in snowpack like melting, rock fall and commonly a fellow rider. It is noteworthy that many of the avalanches that occur in recreational areas are likely from the activities of the people.

Here are ѕоmе of the ways tо mаіntаіn your zірреr:
Nеvеr fоrсе іt.
This іѕ thе gоldеn rule of tаkіng саrе of zірреrѕ. Dіd уоu knоw thаt when you put more lоаd оn уоur bаg thаn the recommended сарасіtу, you are оvеrwоrkіng the zірреrѕ? Let’s рut іt thіѕ wау, whеn уоu fоrсе tоо muсh stuff tо the роіnt оf оvеrlоаdіng уоur jасkеt, іt bесоmеѕ dіffісult to сlоѕе thе zippers. Rіght? Ovеrlоаdіng уоur jасkеt саn put ѕtrеѕѕ on іtѕ zippers whісh ѕhоuld nоt bе the саѕе. Hоwеvеr, if еvеr уоu nееd tо rеаllу brіng a lоt of ѕtuff and уоu thіnk іt mіght рut ѕtrеѕѕ on the zірреrѕ, mаkе ѕurе you pull the mаtеrіаl closer together bеfоrе zірріng іt shut. Nеvеr рull оn the zipper to close your overstuffed jackets and pants. This will bе thе ultimate саuѕе оf dаmаgе. Thе same wоuld аррlу іf ever mаtеrіаl wоuld gеt ѕtuсk іn thе zірреr. Nеvеr fоrсе іt ореn оr vice vеrѕа.
Zірреr ѕnаgѕ – Getting material саught іn bеtwееn thе teeth of уоur zipper іѕ probably the most annoying ѕсеnаrіо whеn it соmеѕ tо zірреrѕ. Whеn thіѕ hарреnѕ, whаt dо уоu do?
Fоllоwіng thе gоldеn rule оf zірреrѕ, dо not force іt! If you fоrсе іt, it wіll оnlу worsen thе ѕіtuаtіоn. Thе bеѕt thіng tо dо іѕ tо bасk оut thе zірреr аwау from the ѕnаg. Puѕh the mаtеrіаl back in оr pull it оut. Whісhеvеr is possible. After thаt, trу closing thе zірреr once more. The technique wіth those annoying ѕnаgѕ is rеduсіng thе fоrсе you еxеrt оn the zірреr by drawing it from the mеtаl tab.
Keep your jackets and pant’s zippers сlеаn
Lіkе уоur jacket аnd pant, dіrt could аlѕо gеt саught іn bеtwееn the tееth оf thе zірреr. This іѕ a very соmmоn іѕѕuе thаt, іf nоt аddrеѕѕеd, will dеfіnіtеlу ѕhоrtеn thе lifespan оf уоur jackets аnd раnt’ѕ zірреr.
Clеаnіng уоur jасkеtѕ аnd раnt’ѕ zірреrѕ іѕ quite аn еаѕу task. Kееріng thеm сlеаn is vеrу еаѕу аnd will оnlу nееd a bit оf effort frоm уоu.
Remember tо lubrісаtе уоur jackets аnd раnt’ѕ zірреrѕ
Aftеr knowing hоw tо manage zippers аnd сlеаnіng them, аlwауѕ rеmеmbеr tо kеер thеm lubrісаtеd. Lubrісаtіng is a preventive method аnd will еnѕurе that уоur zippers wіll continue tо zір smoothly. ]]>Going for snowmobiling, all of us consider the snowmobile gear we are wearing rather the things that we are wearing underneath. We spend a lot of time thinking about our coats and the gloves rather than concerning about the layering we have to do underneath. There is a fear of getting chilled and cold but with the advent of time, there is no such issue like that since the layering beneath the snowmobile gear is being more accepted. Layering not only protects us from the cold, it makes you more comfortable as well.
Layering
Layering is a term that describes the phenomena of wearing clothes on top of each other, layer after layer making sure that you get maximum thermal insulation and protection from cold. The material of each layer could be different depending upon the purpose for which it is used. The layering could help to reduce the radiations in hot weather. The layering is flexibly allowing you to make sure that you are able to move easily.
Layering is widely used in sportswear and clothes for outdoor activities. The material mostly used is synthetic and is very affordable.
Layers
There are three main levels in the layering. They are classified as follows:
Inner layer or base layer
This is the layer that provides moisture. The inner layer is adjacent to the skin and allows perspiration and sweating hence providing moisture to the body. This layer is essential to allow sweating making sure that your body does not get heated in the summer. Sweating allows releasing heat from the body making your body cool during the summer.
While in winters, it allows you to prevent hypothermia. It makes sure that your body temperature does not fall way below normal. Hypothermia is dangerous as it causes fall in blood pressure leading to stroke or hemorrhage.
Material used
The material used is merino wool, synthetic fabrics or even silk. These materials allow your sweat to be transported to the upper layer, making sure that the sweat gets evaporated.
We suggest a thin tight non-cotton shirt and pant.
Polyester, polystyrene, and microfiber are used which are antibacterial and insect repellent. These are odor resistant as well. These synthetic materials are less expensive while silk is expensive and hard to handle as well. It does not provide the essential thermal resistance hence it is unable to keep you warm.
Cotton is not suitable for any layer since it absorbs sweat. It becomes cold and heavy. The insulation is lost and cotton becomes a threat if it is used for insulation in cold weather. Cotton is better forgotton!
Middle layer
This layer is often termed as the insulation layer. It provides insulation making sure that the necessary heat and the cooling effect is not lost and retains it for a longer period of time. It is not much tight as is the base layer. It is recommended to make the layer a bit loose so that it covers the body entirely and provides insulation between the inner and the outer layer. It traps air in between the layers to provide insulation.
We suggest a thin fleece. JUDGED sells a very affordable option that includes not exrta pockets, straps or anything to keep it light.
Material used
Fleece is an excellent option for making this layer. Fleece is an excellent insulator and provides protection against heat and cold. It works even when it is wet. The weight is not much and it can be compressed as well. It is a synthetic polymer, which in light in weight and insulation is provided when it is wet.
A cotton hoodie is commonly used as insulation layer. Don't do it.
Shell layer or outer layer
Shell layer consists of the outermost clothes that we wear. They have to be strong enough to resist the cold and the strong winds. A good mechanical strength is a must have for these clothes.
Materials used
Cordura with our laminate and DWR are water proof and wind resistant. They are not in tight fitting and you can feel that the air is in circulation in the coat. We suggest our Jackets and Pants for this layer. Obviously :)

]]>There is nothing worse than getting while riding to discover that your goggles are fogging up. Yeah, we all know that feeling much too well when snow is everywhere and the wind is starting to pick up. You clasp your hands together in excitement ready to carve up some serious miles on a whole new layer of fresh and soft powder when all of a sudden……. Your goggles start to fog and you can’t see anything!
You remove them and let them rest on your helmet only to be met with a harsh wind and snow flying into your face leaving you virtually half blind.
If this is something you have experienced then read on because today we are going to talk about how you can prevent foggy goggle syndrome.
Keep Going
Obviously you have to remain stationary when you are getting unstuck but when you are stopped on the mountain, try and restrain yourself from sliding the goggles up onto your helmet or in front of your chin bar. When you have the goggles pressing up against your chin bar, the body heat and your breath enters the goggles and fogs them up even faster. Put them in your goggle case or even better an under hood goggle bag.
The fog comes from the cold air from the outside mixing with the hot air inside your goggles so if you need to take them off make sure they are in a dry place.
Get rid of the Snow
Whenever you get a chance, check to see if any snow has stuck onto your goggles. This is something you can do to distract yourself while you are waiting for or sitting on the sled for a break. Kill two birds with one stone!
Remove Snow from Vents
This only happens on the real deep days, but can happen. Keep an eye out for the vents in your goggles as snow can often creep in. If the snow does get in, it will block the vents and prevent air from flowing through them. JUDGED goggles do provide extra venting that prevents this, but still and item to check.
Do not clean the inside of your goggles with a wet lens bag
This is something a lot of people do without even thinking but if you attempt to clean the inside of your goggles with even a mildly wet lens bag you will only worsen the problem or even go as far as damage your goggles. You should not touch the inside of your lens.
Dry out the goggles
If fogging starts to get really bad, remove the goggles and give them a good shake as if you were mixing a cocktail and see if the added air flow fixes it. Another thing you can do is to place them inside a dry goggle bag and see if it improves after a couple of minutes.
If you have done both of these steps and the goggles still continue to fog, you may have to swap to another pair and let them dry longer in an under hood bag.
Refrain from touching the inside
The more handsy you are with your goggles, the more likely it is going to fog. We understand that you will need to touch your goggles at some point but if you remember this rule, you will go far. Take a look around at all the other victims of goggle fog syndrome. Chances are they are the ones who are jabbing their fingers inside, poking around and fiddling. To make matters worse, their constant fidgeting worsens the fogging which makes them even more anxious and angry.
Ride with two goggles
Have a good back up. Simple as that. Keep one in a goggle bag and the other one across your face. That way you will always have a fresh and hopefully un-foggy pair on the side. Our new Sanction Goggles allow you to instead just carry a lens.

When it comes to safety, it includes the rider’s safety as well as safety of the snowmobile. While for the snowmobile it is important to ensure that it is in proper running condition and is well maintained, for the rider the safety measures are much more.
Never ride a snowmobile without proper riding gear and protection. This includes, a riding suit, helmet and gloves. The riding gear not just protects you but also enhances the riding experience.
Just like a car, bike or any other vehicle, never ride under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Riding after drug or alcohol consumption impairs your judgment and puts you and others at risk. Additionally, your vision, balance, coordination and reaction time will also be hampered.
However well you may ride, never ride alone! It’s always advisable to ride in groups. In case of any mishap, another rider and snowmobile can always come to rescue.
Avoid riding on ice over lakes and rivers. If you must, make sure you stick to the riding trail. Avoid areas where you can see the water current below the ice, as the ice here may be thin and weak.
While riding fast may seem exciting, over speeding is the cause for most accidents. Be it day or night time, always keep a control on your riding speed and adhere to speed limits. Especially when riding at night, ensure you don’t exceed 40 MPH. For a few minutes of adrenaline rush, don’t put yourself and other at risk!
Taking all required safety measures will make your snowmobile riding experience even more enhanced and exciting. Whether you are a seasoned rider, a learner or a recreational rider; never ever ignore the safety measures.
Ride Safe and Be safe!
