All JUDGED Gear is made of a type of special fabric system that helps keep people dry when they're outside in the rain or snow. It's like having an invisible shield around you that stops water from getting through. But it's not just any ordinary shield - this fabric system is also really good at letting air move through it, which means you can stay dry and comfortable even when you're sweating or moving around a lot. Our fabric system changes from each piece of gear and its requirements.

So, how does this system work? The magic of JUDGED system lies in its special membrane. A membrane is a really thin layer that's kind of like a wall or a barrier. In our gear, this membrane is made out of a material called ePTFE, which stands for expanded polytetrafluoroethylene. That's a really long and fancy word, but all you need to know is that it's a type of plastic that's really good at keeping water out, while still allowing air to move through it.

The membrane is like a really tiny, tiny net. It has lots of really small holes in it that are too small for water droplets to fit through, but big enough for air and water vapor to move through. This is why our gear is breathable - your sweat can escape through the membrane (net), but rain or snow can't get in.

The "net" works by using a membrane that has microscopic pores that are smaller than a water droplet but larger than a water vapor molecule. This means that while water droplets cannot pass through the membrane, water vapor can. The ePTFE material is extremely thin and has a high surface area. The high surface area allows for more pores to be packed into the membrane, creating a more effective barrier to liquid water.

But that's not all. In order to make our fabric system work even better, the fabric is also treated with a special coating called a durable water repellent (DWR). This coating helps water droplets roll off the surface of the fabric, so they don't even get a chance to touch the membrane. This means that the membrane can stay breathable and continue to let air and water vapor move through it. The DWR coating helps to prevent the fabric from becoming saturated with water, which could reduce the breathability of the membrane.

So, when you're wearing our system, you can stay dry and comfortable even in wet and damp conditions. Overall, our gear is a highly effective material for keeping people dry and comfortable in a variety of outdoor activities, from snowmobile riding and camping to skiing and snowboarding. It works by allowing moisture to escape while keeping rain, snow, and other forms of liquid water out.
